National Generator Emission Control Programme

We are committed to reducing emissions from generators in Nigeria, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting cleaner air through regular testing and monitoring of stationary sources of pollution.

is a strategy aimed at cutting down emission of pollutants from generators (stationary sourced) The programme is being implemented under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) and will involve periodic testing of generators for toxic emissions.

Ensuring Cleaner Air for All

The Federal Republic of Nigeria endorsed the "PARIS CLIMATE CHANGE AGREEMENT AT COP 21 (Conference of the Parties) in December 2015. The National Environmental (Air Quality Control) regulations, 2021 were published in the Federal Republic of Nigeria Gazette No 161 dated Lagos 17th February, 2021 Vol. 108. Chapter 13 - Every Power Generating set from 10 KVA and above which is in use, in operation or is capable of being operated in Nigeria shall:

Be registered with the Agency (NESREA) via this platform.
Undergo emission testing at least once a year and certified by the Agency (NESREA) Accredited Agent.

Emission Control Services

The Federal Ministry of Environment, under the leadership of (NESREA) and its agent invite you to register your generator (from 10KVA and above) on this platform.This exercise is in connection with the Environmental Protection Programme for clean and healthy for "ALL" and the TREE Planting in all the Federation.

NESREA has the responsibility of enforcing all environmental laws, guidelines, policies & regulations in Nigeria. It's also its responsibility to enforce compliance with provisions of international Agreements, Protocols, Conventions and Treaties which we are signatories to." .

The objectives of the National Generator Emission Control Programme (NGECP) is amongst other things to create public awareness indiscriminate use of ill-maintained generators and their environmental and health hazards."
